So, everybody kept making 7/07/07 out to be some really lucky day to get married. Sweetie pies, it’s a total crap shoot no matter WHAT day you choose. So, personally, I thought it was a fun date, easy to remember (NO excuses on anniversaries!), and folks like the number seven. And that line up of numbers won’t come around again until 2077–better book your doves now, ‘cuz prices iz goin’ up!!
After I came to this morning, I was laying there thinking about yesterday. That the luck really did start flowing early. First of all, I lost my cell phone Friday night. And not only did I lose my cell phone, but I had just replaced my 90-year old phone with the most beautiful new phone I’ve ever seen. Well, I thought for sure I had left it at my parents’, but I called it and they didn’t hear it barking (my phone doesn’t ring or sing…it barks…a springer spaniel). It vibrates pretty softly, too, and I was thinking it could be on ‘vibrate’, because I had just come from a job with the birds. So if it was under something, they couldn’t see lights, either. THEN, I had killed the battery that afternoon, and put it on the car charger for only about 20 minutes before I got to my folks’, so it could be totally dead and stuck down between the cushions… So–oh, dear. I’m rambling. Short story–I got a call on Saturday morning just 30 minutes before I was supposed to start getting the birds dressed for their day. Some kind soul scouting yard sales on his bike found it in the street a block from the loft. And it wasn’t squished! Just some pretty deep scuffs and scratches that won’t buff out, but will be a constant reminder of how lucky I am.
You try going without your cell phone for 15 hours!!
Now, ask me how it got on the street!
Then, how lucky is it to have July weddings where nobody sweats? It was the most perfectly lovely, beautifully breezy day one could ever wish for. That’s LUCK!
And my first job of the day provided me a parking place, in the shade, within view to leave my second basket of birds for my second wedding which was only 10 minutes away from the first. And even though Anne and Tom’s wedding started 30 minutes late (but who was counting?…was NOT!), I still had time to scout out some pizza (New York, cheese, fresh garlic) to get me through the rest of the day. Lucky.
Best of luck and a lifetime of happiness to married couples everywhere!!
The Dove Lady counts her blessings every day, and even though she thought it would have been extra cool to win Mega or Super Lotto on 7/07/07, she isn’t even the slightest bit disappointed. She won Universe Lotto on 7/22/02.
